About GOBARdhan Intiative

Galvanizing Organic Bio-Agro Resources Dhan’ (GOBARdhan) was announced in the Budget Speech of the Hon’ble Finance Minister in Feb 2018 for management and conversion of cattle dung and solid waste in farms to compost, fertilizer, biogas and bio-CNG. GOBARdhan was launched on 30th April, 2018 by D/o Drinking Water & Sanitation.

GOBARdhan under SBM -G Phase II (2020-2027)

GOBARdhan is an integral component of Solid Waste Management (SWM) under Phase II of SBM (G) for ensuring cleanliness in villages by converting cattle dung, kitchen leftovers etc. into biogas and bio-slurry.
Under Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen) Phase -II, Financial assistance up to Rs.50 lakhs/district is available, for setting up of community & cluster biogas plants in villages/ Blocks/districts for complete programme period from 2020-21 to 2026-27.
Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DDWS) supporting setting up of Biogas plants by State/UTs under SBMG phase -II.

Information regarding CBG plants may be sought from Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoPNG). The GOBARdhan portal for CBG is being managed by MoPNG (https://gobardhan.eil.co.in/)
